Oceanside Boulevard Reef and Surf
The
Reef:
Under the water in the
Oceanside area it is mostly sand with the occasional rock or
two. The sand does move a lot when there is a swell breaking
upon the shores so make sure to take caution for sandbars
and deep holes to fall into. Other then those couple
hazards, Oceanside can offer some awesome waves with the
right swell and conditions.

The
Surf:
Best
Tide: Low to Medium tides are the best for these
Oceanside beaches.
Best
Swell Directing: Because of the direction of these
beaches, almost any swell direction can get in here and
create some good waves. West and Northwest provide clean and
strong lines while South and Southwest swells can provide
very rampy and fun waves.
Best
Winds: No wind is best but if any, a East wind will do
wonders.
Best
Size: Anywhere from 2 - 6 feet can lead to ideal surf.
Best
Months to Catch it Going Off: Pretty much year around
depending on the swell and conditions.
The surf at Oceanside Blvd
and pretty much all along this portion of Oceanside can be
very inconsistent but when it's pumping, get ready for some
awesome waves! The longer the swell periods are, the cleaner
and more consistent the waves will be at these beach breaks.
Remember that these sandbars will shift and move around so
keep your eyes open for the best looking peak around you.

When you are out at these
Oceanside Boulevard breaks, make sure to watch out for the
inside section. Sometimes the sandbar can get fairly large
and can cause the waves to stand up and pitch over onto near
dry sand. Just be careful and make sure to know whets going
on under the water.
