Grandview Surf Spot
Grandview is one of those
spots that seems to always be a fun wave. I've surfed there
for a few years, and maybe it's just luck, but I can't
remember ever getting out of the water without a smile on my
face.
The break at Grandview
offers a variety of different kind of waves. From the larger
set waves that roll in to the fast and walled up inside
points. Grandview has some awesome waves to be surfed to get
out there!

Location:
Grandview is located in
the city of Leucadia, which is just North of Encinitas. The
beach access in Leucadia is abundant but is often difficult
to find with all of the one way streets and dead ends
surrounding Leucadia. If you are going to go looking for
surf spots or waves, i recommend you start in Encinitas and
head North as most of the roads that are one way head North.

The
Parking Scenario:
There is a huge parking
located at the entrance to Grandview. It is separated into
two lots but are connected with a small road. Both lots are
very ample in size and can allow for a lot of vehicles to be
parked with no problems. On crowded and big days of surf at
Grandview, these lots can fill up and at that case, the next
place to look for parking is around the surrounding side
streets and roads. Make sure to not block anyone's driveway
and be sure to watch for Fire and City parking signs to
avoid tickets.
*Please not that there
have been several thefts at Grandview in the past few years,
just like any other surf spot. However, I would not
recommend leaving your keys on your car or hidden near by.
Throw them in your wetsuit or in your leash and make sure
you come back to your car.

Beach Accessibility and Conveniences:
There is only one way to
access Grandview and that is by the Grandview stairs located
right across from the parking lot. It is near impossible to
miss and provides a meandering walk down flights of stairs
until you arrive at a beautiful beach.

The view as you walk down
the stairs
Please take caution as you
get to the bottom of the stairs because they are often wet
from surfer traffic and mist from the ocean and can be
slippery.

Lifeguard:
There are no Lifeguards on
duty at the Grandview beach so please take extreme caution
when out surfing. There are some rocks and dangers in the
line up so please e sure to watch yourself to avoid injury.
